It is February 2022 and any time soon CD PROJEKT RED could drop news on Patch 1.5 which many people expect to be a next-gen upgrade.
Edit: today is 15 February 2022, just hours before CD Projekt Red’s live stream, where they will probably release their plans for CyberPunk2077. Hopefully the announcement will include what I was hoping for in this article. The live stream will start at 4 pm CET on Twitch.
In the last weeks I saw much speculation over the upcoming 1.5 patch of Cyberpunk 2077, and I am super excited about it.
Cyberpunk 2077 is one of my favourite games, despite its rocky release. December 10, 2020 was a very emotional day for me. I remember sitting in front of my base PS4 wearing my Cyberpunk t-shirt, staring at the countdown until I can start the game. I was so hyped, my fiancée was actually filming me for her friends, sitting there like a dork.
Then the excitement quickly flapped as about 3 minutes into the game I started to notice glitches, then I restarted the game. And about another 5 minutes later I got my first crash. I was devastated. I was waiting for this game for around 8 years, and I felt like a fool, I felt cheated.
I am somewhat ashamed to admit, but I actually refunded it on PSN. However I did not give up, and bought another copy on Stadia. Since I don’t have a gaming PC, and could not buy a PS5, it was my only way to play it. And it was amazing, I enjoyed every moment of it.
That being said, since then I was lucky enough to be able to buy a PlayStation 5, and bought Cyberpunk 2077 once again. I loved the Stadia version, but playing on the PlayStation is simply more comfortable in my region.
One of the best things in owning a PS5 is being able to enjoy the features of the DualSense controller.
I usually found the controller vibration in video games gimmicky. With a few exceptions it was a useless addition. Just because I feel a tiny rumble in my palm, it does not make me more immersed. Some games got it right. For example in Red Dead Redemption 2 it was actually helping in the fishing minigame.
But DualSense is a whole different level.
The best experience I ever had with it until now was Ghost of Tsushima. The way the controller enhances certain actions is superb.
It is actually an enhancement, not just an addition.
The subtle scratch of the steel of your katana against the wood sheathe, the different thuds and knocks of your horse’s hooves as it gallops. The tension when straining your bow. All amazing features that actually deepens immersion.
Possible utilizations in Cyberpunk 2077
Cyberpunk 2077 is already an immersive experience but getting an improvement with DualSense features would be something truly amazing.
If I would make a wish list of features that CD PROJEKT RED should implement, it would look like this:
- Throttling and braking while driving
- A subtle scratch when the Relic glitches
- Different rumblings when you are hacking or getting hacked
- Haptic feedback when deploying/retracting the Mantis Blade, katanas, etc.
- The bass of music in clubs
- Using cameras
- Different feedback when landing on different terrains
- Obviously when getting damage
- Weapon recoil
- Braindance panning
These are just ideas from the top of my head, but I am sure there could be far more utilizations of this amazing tech.
What do you think? What features should they implement? Or do you have other PlayStation titles that could use the DualSense treatment?
